Ribandar CREMATORIUM: GHRC Seeks Reply From NGPDA

Panjim: The Goa Human Rights Commission (GHRC) comprising of A.D.Salkar and J.A Keny today directed that notice be issued to the Member Secretary of the North Goa Planning and Development Authority (NGPDA) seeking his reply to the complaint filed by Adv. Aires Rodrigues over the lack of a proper crematorium for the residents of Fonduvem in Ribandar.
The GHRC directions came after Chief Town Planner Dr S.T.Puttaraju in his reply today submitted that Ribandar falls with the jurisdiction and purview of the NGPDA.  Adv. Aires Rodrigues in his complaint to the GHRC pointed out that at Fonduvem in Ribandar the ‘Shree Pandurang Devasthan’ has been struggling for the last many decades to get a proper Crematorium.
Adv. Rodrigues further stated that the authorities have miserably failed to ensure that the 100 odd households in the locality are bestowed with a proper crematorium for their final rites. Adv. Rodrigues has sought that the authorities be directed to explain as to how they have in violation of the Human Rights of the 100 odd families of Fonduvem ward at Ribandar failed to provide a proper crematorium.
