NGT Directs Goa Journalist To Pay Costs Of Rs 10000

Panjim: South Goa based Journalist cum politician Savio Rodrigues has been penalized by the Pune bench of the National Green Tribunal and directed to pay costs of Ten thousand for having dragged a a wrong party to the Tribunal. A bench comprising of Justice U.D.Salvi and Prof P.C.Mishra while declining to accept the plea of Savio Rodrigues that the party was added mistakenly, in its order held that the imposition of costs was justified and observed that little more diligence could have avoided the present situation.
Claiming to be a well known journalist in Goa, Savio Rodrigues in his complaint before the NGT at Pune had alleged that Mumbai based Capricon Reality Ltd had done land filing in survey No 25/18 at Chopdem.
Appearing on behalf the company, Adv. Aires Rodrigues while submitting that the company had nothing to do with Survey No 25/18, sought that exemplary costs be imposed on Savio Rodrigues for unnecessary dragging his client to Court and for having filed the complaint without application of mind. Savio Rodrigues had contested the 2014 Lok Sabha elections from South Goa on the Goa Su-Raj Party ticket and had polled 783 votes.
