With Atmaram Nadkarni Finally Out – A Ray Of Hope For Goa – by Aires Rodrigues
Tuesday - May 10, 2016
Finally some very good news for Goa. We will soon get a new Advocate General with the current dubious Atmaram Nadkarni who rightly lost his race to be a Supreme Court Judge is now being rehabilitated as one of India’s 12 Additional Solicitor General. We need to sincerely thank Prime Minister Narendra Modi for doing us this great service by ridding Goa of an Advocate General
Tiatro ‘Tension’ By Pal Soares – by A. Veronica Fernandes, Candolim
Tuesday - May 10, 2016
On 8th of this month in Candolim at Saipem, at 8.30 PM instead of at 7.30 PM, I saw the Tiatro “TENSION” written and directed by one of the best directors Pal Soares. In fact this is an excellent Tiatro with excellent story played by excellent artistes though all of them were not heavy weight. This is the 15th Tiatro of Pal Soares
Can Babush’s Crime Be Passed Off As Just Another Indiscretion? - by Dr Oscar Rebelo
Tuesday - May 10, 2016
The latest in Goa's sordid and familiar tale of woe is the Babush 'sold and raped' saga. There will be much chest beating and moral outrage that will be vomited in print, television and internet. And all of us 'moral outragers' will go home happy that we said the right thing and defended
Dear, Dear Fellow Goans, Let Us Not Rush To 'Pay Now' And 'Repent Later' – by Floriano Lobo
Monday - May 9, 2016
If a 'Political Climate Change' is a must for Goa, which, in fact, is the need of the hour, why do Goans opt for a faraway Delhi's extreme climate, which climate does not have the Goa's diverse biodiversity of swaying coconut palms and storming ridley turtles to nest on Goa's Golden Beaches?
Safeguard Judicial Positions From The Political Rot – by Aires Rodrigues
Monday - May 9, 2016
Highly deplorable is the latest move by the despotic Narendra Modi government to craftily encroach and undermine the independence of the Judiciary by giving the Attorney General a say in the appointment of Supreme Court Judges and to the Advocate Generals on High Court Judges. Today the Attorney General and the Advocate Generals are sheer political appointees
Sincerity Needed In Reducing Road Accidents – by Jose Maria Miranda
Monday - May 9, 2016
Among the many tragedies Goa has been witnessing, the ones which have brought most pain and unimaginable consternation in innumerable families are deaths and injuries in road accidents, which do not see any let up. I dwelt lightly on this topic in my last article. However, the matter surely
Too Harsh Punishment For FC Goa – by A.Veronica Fernandes,
Sunday - May 8, 2016
I strongly disapprove with the harsh punishment imposed on FC Goa by ISL though FC Goa was wrong in boycotting the prize distribution ceremony. However, the quantum of punishment is too high which looks more like a revenge. As a president of GFA, soon after Goa’s annexation by Bharat, Dr. Gustavo Monteiro from Candolim mingled with the top brass of Indian Foot-ball administrators
Goa Police Should Have Displayed Same Zeal In Probing Vasco Rape Case – by Aires Rodrigues
Sunday - May 8, 2016
The police are duty bound not to act as caged parrots but to diligently investigate each and every crime, however the sordid ground reality is there for all to see. If the same keenness and enthusiasm being shown in the current MLA Babush Monserrate case was displayed by the Goa Police in the
CRZ Violation In Moira – Floriano Lobo
Saturday - May 7, 2016
The Hamlet of Moira has the tributary of the Mandovi running on its outskirts from Pirazona ward to the Mapusa Church. Lands skirting the river in the Pirazona-Caturli area are sought after by mega monied Delhi'tes etc. But the CRZ regulations does not allow the land skirting the river for
Courts Need To Curtail Holidays To Combat The Huge Pendency – by Aires Rodriguess
Friday - May 6, 2016
The move by the Allahabad High Court to curtail its summer vacation is a step in the right direction. Infact the Supreme Court which currently functions for less than nine months a year should have taken the lead to increase its court working days so that it could have been also replicated by all Courts across the country to being down the current enormous pendency of cases.
