Tuesday - Jan 22, 2013
Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar had promised that Goa would have a Lokayukta within hundred days of his coming to power. After a very long wait of over 10 months there now seems to be some ray of hope at least on the appointment of the Lokayukta. The Chief Minister has over the last few months made all sorts of conflicting statements on the issue. While initially he said that the government

GOA OF TODAY! by Joel Moraes, Cuncolim

In recent times things have really changed in Goa, not from good to better but from bad to worst. From unlimited number of LPG cooking cylinders to limited number of cylinders and this 6 or 9 number of cylinders/month is totally insufficient and our leaders speak about India shining.

It is to the concerted efforts of every responsible member of the society that we can retrieve our society from the morass of depravity and other evils that our society is plagued with. MANOHAR PARRIKAR A SUPER FLOP AS HOME MINISTER by Adv. Aires Rodrigues
Sunday - Jan 20, 2013
While in the Opposition my friend Manohar Parrikar repeatedly demanded the resignation of the then Home Minister Ravi Naik on account of the spate of crimes. Today he is over ten months as Chief Minister also holding the Home portfolio and the crime levels have shot over the roof. Murders, rapes and thefts have become the order of the day. How does the Chief Minister justify this now?
SENSELESS CLOSURE OF IMPORTANT TRAFFIC ISLANDS AT PORVORIM by Floriano Lobo
Sunday - Jan 20, 2013
It must be noted that very important 'traffic islands' at the foot of the twin-bridges at Betim, Panjim and at O'Coqueiro, Porvorim, have been closed for sometime now. Could the SP Traffic kindly explain the advantages of these closures? I could give a long list of disadvantages that the closure of these islands cause to the unsuspecting commuters. Whoever has used his brains

GSRP came out with 'GOANS FIRST' doctrine when it released it's 'Road Map for GOA in the year 2005, the Party having been formed and registered in 1999-2000. A good look at Chapter [II] (2) will give the idea of what constitutes Goans First as according the GSRP. The Press attending the release went hammer and tongs on this 'GOANS FIRST' subject matter and the Party made it it's business to redirect the volatile pressperson's thinking that 'GOANS FIRST' did not mean 'GOA FOR GOANS'
REMEMBERING THE LION OF THE OPINION POLL by Adv. Aires Rodrigues
Sunday - Jan 20, 2013
The Calangute Panchayat needs to be lauded for annually remembering January 16th the anniversary of that historic 1967 Opinion Poll that saved Goa from being a mere taluka of Maharastra. It is also remembering the great late Dr Jack Sequeira. There is no reason why this auspicious day should not be commemorated at a State level.
