CAN GOANS LEARN FROM THE JAPANESE? NO NEED FOR A MINISTERIAL TOUR! by Tucarama Naique
Wednesday - Oct 23, 2013
Something for the Goa government and Goan Educationists to think about. Can we adopt any of these to improve our society? Principles and Ethics building start from young age. Japanese children clean their schools every day for a quarter of an hour with teachers, which led to the emergence of a Japanese generation who is modest and keen on cleanliness.
CRIMINALS IN GOA by Joao Barros-Pereira
Tuesday - Oct 22, 2013
Reading a news report recently I got the impression Chief Minister Parrikar perceives our State as an interim place for criminals to relax while preparing for their next job. If so he is right. A few days later his Deputy Chief Minister commented how Goa has become a magnet for criminals. He added, we are a soft state, and our nature is soft!
JUDGES SOCIALISING WITH ADVOCATES UNDESIRABLE by Adv. Aires Rodrigues
Tuesday - Oct 22, 2013
Despite there being a very clear and categorical diktat by the Supreme Court that judges should not socialize with advocates, there seems no rigorous compliance of this very salutary prescription. Just because Goa is a holiday destination, does it mean that it should be exempt from this much required norm?
CONTRADICTORY MINDSET OF SOME GOANS - AN IMPEDIMENT TO PROGRESS by Ifa Saldanha
Monday - Oct 21, 2013
Undoubtedly, the ego or personal interest is the breeding ground for contradictions in human beings. Sacrificing and compromising one's personal interest for a collective good or the greater good of all is the hallmark of a Democracy and of a genuine democratic leader who strives to promote unity
CHITRA’S NEW DVD ‘MISS YOU LOVE’ by A. Veronica Fernandes, Kuwait
Sunday - Oct 20, 2013
The latest DVD “MISS YOU LOVE” released from Goa has just reached Kuwait in the Open Market for sale. It is produced and directed by Konkani Stage artiste Chitra and I can rightly say that in all respects it is excellent. My highest compliments to Chitra for bringing out such an excellent DVD
FARMERS MARKETS by Joao Barros-Pereira
Sunday - Oct 20, 2013
Farmers have got a shot in the agricultural arm as local farmers now will be able to sell their products along the highway. Will the government provide a subsidy for building shacks? And, will it be rent free? The beneficiaries, however, will mostly be car owners who can afford to pay the high prices of vegetables and not the average Goan whose monthly salary is unchanged
VALPOI COMMUNAL TENSION CREATED BY THE COMMUNALIST CM MANOHAR PARRIKAR by Tulshidas Shirodkar
Saturday - Oct 19, 2013
Valpoi tension is nothing but a creation of the communalist CM Manohar Parrikar. The question arises how the police inspector Ramesh Gaonkar could register an offence against the women of the house which was forcibly trespassed and the women molested by Hanuman Parab and others.
NO TO A YES-MAN LOKAYUKTA by Adv. Aires Rodrigues
Saturday - Oct 19, 2013
The Goa Government should immediately initiate the process of appointing a new Goa Lokayukta. The resignation of Lokayukta Justice B. Sudershan Reddy was a pre-planned and expected move. There needs to be an inquiry into the total expenditure incurred over the last seven months on the Lokayukta and his office. It is ridiculous that the Lokayukta was unable to even
BEATING ROUND THE RTI BUSH by Dr. Oscar Rebello
Friday - Oct 18, 2013
The recent notification as regards the RTI Act, that requires, every person seeking information under RTI to provide an affidavit that he/she is a citizen of India, duly notarised has triggered off a proverbial storm in Goa’s otherwise inclement political weather. Whatever the legal arguments
HOUSE COMMITTEE REPORTS FIRST OF ITS KIND by Floriano Lobo
Friday - Oct 18, 2013
The Goa Su-Raj Party lauds the 'House Committee', it's Chairman and the REPORT itself, and congratulates the committee in no uncertain terms for this 'first of it's kind' largese fed to the GOAN PUBLIC to be lapped-up with top termites undermining the very fabric of GOA nailed and nailed hard and proper. It is a matter of small or negligible concern to the people of Goa that Wagh and Lobo
