Can Welfare Of Dogs Supersede The Well Being Of Humans? – by Aires Rodrigues
Sunday - Oct 30, 2016
Over the years crores have been spent on the stray dog menace but the situation is just getting shoddier. The stray dog menace across Goa is now beyond control. The so called sterilisation programme is just not working. Sterilization alone can never be the only solution to this grave and
Bidding Farewell To My Friend Shashikala Kakodkar – by Aires Rodrigues
Saturday - Oct 29, 2016
In Shashikala Kakodkar’s death Goa has lost a great leader. Goa’s second Chief Minister, Shashikala Kakodkar was known as ‘Tai’ to us all. She took over the reins of Goa on August 12, 1973 following the death of her father, Goa’s first Chief Minister, Dayanand Bandodkar. Shashikala Kakodkar was India’s third lady Chief Minister, the first being Sucheta Kriplani (Uttar Pradesh) and the second

With her passing away, the front door merger chapter of Goa with Maharashtra has ended. Today Goan political scenario is such that anybody wants to contest Assembly elections, as we have seen individuals coming together and forming a party and giving it all sorts of names related to Goa and calls themselves regional party of Goa in the last 6 months we have seen mushrooming of such

Why Should I Vote For BJP Again? – by A. Veronica Fernandes, Candolim
Thursday - Oct 27, 2016
Why should I vote for BJP again when I know this party has failed us by not fulfilling its given promises in the last election? Its greatest failure was non-fulfilment of the major promise of granting of Special Status to Goa. We want to save our land for future generation and other facilities to protect our identity, for this reason we want Special Status for Goa.

We were cheated by Portugal as well as by Bharat when in 1974 the treaty of officially surrendering Goa to Bharat was signed between these two countries without according any special privileges for Goans. When Pondicherry was surrendered to India, Pondicherians were given so many facilities including that of their land, by India.

Similarly for Macau by Portugal when it was surrendered to China. But for Goa nothing. Neither Portugal nor Bharat thought anything good of Goa and Goans. Bharati system has made Goa a foot-ball ground for anyone to play

Matanhy Saldanha’s Work Does Not Qualify As Alina & Parrikar Attempts Fame – by Chris Leitao, Margao
Tuesday - Oct 25, 2016
Margao May 28, 2013: At a joint meet of Goa Students committee and Niz Goans today strongly opposed the Government proposal to name the south Goa Collectorate after late Minister Mr. Matanhy Saldanha. Joint leader and Convener Mr. Andrew Antao stated that Late Matanhy's work does not qualify for that status and that Chief Minister Mr. Manohar Parrikar and Ms. Alina Saldanha are making an Elephant out of a Squirrel and to leave the south Goa Collectorate as South Goa Collectorate. Late Mr. Matanhy’s work is associated with a fraction small percentage of Goan population and just because he died in office does not qualify him to naming of South Goa Collectorate after him. There are hundreds of Goan leaders and Goan tiatrists who have done more relevant work and who could be considered beginning with late Mr. M.Boyer who is nationally awarded. They observed
Remembering Matanhy Saldanha On His Birthday – by Aires Rodrigues
Monday - Oct 24, 2016
Today on late Matanhy Saldanha’s birthday let us recall how the BJP only used and deviously betrayed that great and very charismatic leader. At Matanhy Saldanha’s funeral on 24th March 2012 at the St Thomas Church in Cansaulim, the then Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar profusely sobbed and had publicly vowed to carry on Matanhy’s legacy and everything he stood for
Marginalization Of Goans Must Not Be Tolerated - by Jose Maria Miranda
Monday - Oct 24, 2016
Having watched helplessly our beloved land being destroyed and disfigured by our greedy and selfish rulers, past and present, and their accomplices, some from outside but many from our own soil, and our Goans being overwhelmed by a heavy and uninterrupted inflow of migrants, the time has run out for us to unite and go all out to stop such attempts which are solely aimed at marginalizing Goans and making them irrelevant in the political and electoral scenario of the State. Though belatedly, we may still manage in salvaging what is left of Goa if this last opportunity afforded to us, is availed of to send the crooks home and elect few good people, who truly love Goa.

The process of disfiguring Goa and crushing its distinct identity was a well-conceived plan of the Indian rulers, at the time of the so-called Liberation, carefully executed thereafter with active connivance of Goan politicians and mostly outside bureaucrats. Even the most preposterous
